MUJI case study
2022. 15 weeks.
Summary
The Gloo was designed with the intention of tackling 3 major problems makers face with current glue guns.
-
They rarely can stand upright.
-
Trigger finger exhaustion.
-
Not knowing when it's hot/ready to use.
With a low centre of gravity, a light that indicates when it's ready to use, a translucent window to show if the glue sticks are jammed or about to finish, and a new trigger mechanism that spreads the stress evenly through the hand, the Gloo is a new take on an old problem.
Competitive Landscape
With feedback from makers, crafters, and designers.
I began prototyping in search of a more comfortable, and stable form.
Interrupted by beautifying the form, the final prototypes took trial and error.
